Industry challenges

Learning challenges in hospitality

The most common training challenges in Chilean hotels, with the applicable rule where there is one and how Clikma addresses them. "How Clikma addresses it" describes the platform, not what each client uses.

  • High turnover and seasons that reset everything

Front-line roles turn over a lot and headcount grows in high season: training starts over with every new hire, and the new person has to perform from their first shift.

Regulation (Chile): No specific rule; the mandatory DS 44 prevention course applies to every new hire.

    How Clikma addresses it

Induction is assigned by role and hotel with every payroll upload. People without a corporate email sign in with their national ID (RUT) or a QR code, and those returning for another season skip a module if they pass the pre-test.

  • Round-the-clock shifts across several hotels

Front desk, kitchen and housekeeping run day and night, sometimes across several hotels: bringing the team into a classroom leaves areas uncovered, and it is hard to keep the same standard at every property.

    How Clikma addresses it

The same role-based paths for every hotel, in e-learning that resumes where the person left off, and a single email with each person's pending items. The training dashboard compares adherence by role, and each manager follows their team in My Team.

  • Guest service, including in other languages

The experience depends on how the team serves guests, handles a complaint or talks with a foreign guest, and those skills are learned by practicing, not by reading a presentation.

Regulation (Chile): Not a legal requirement: SERNATUR's Tourism Quality Seal (Sello Q) is voluntary.

    How Clikma addresses it

With Tu Mentor, the team practices a check-in, a complaint or a sale by voice with an AI character, with a voice chosen by language and region. Managers can observe service with an on-the-job checklist.

  • Food safety with up-to-date records

Anyone handling food in the kitchen, at the buffet or in room service needs ongoing instruction, and the health authority may ask for proof.

Regulation (Chile): Food Sanitary Regulation (Decree 977 of 1996), article 52: adequate and ongoing instruction, with records of programs, attendance and assessments.

    How Clikma addresses it

Mandatory courses with deadlines and assessments, in-person sessions with QR code attendance and a class register, and reports that bring together the schedule, attendees and grades.

  • Dealing with guests and the Karin Law

Customer-facing staff face complaints and abusive behavior from customers, and the company must prevent harassment and violence, inform about risks and prove it provided training.

Regulation (Chile): Law 21,643 (Karin Law), which includes violence from customers or users. Decree (DS) 44 of 2023, article 16.

    How Clikma addresses it

Voice role-play to rehearse how to de-escalate a complaint, protocol and internal rules with a signed read receipt, and a prevention course with attendance, assessment and certificate per person.

  • Mandatory prevention course, with evidence

Every employer, regardless of industry or contract type, must provide an occupational risk prevention course of at least 8 hours and, from November 1, 2026, prove it with verifiable and traceable records.

Regulation (Chile): Law 16,744 and Decree (DS) 44 of 2023, article 16. Technical Guide of the Undersecretariat of Social Security (Exempt Resolution 1,117 of 2026).

    How Clikma addresses it

A single plan in person, by webinar or by e-learning. Each person's attendance, assessment, certificate, instructor, date and duration are recorded, and reports can be exported for an inspection.

What are the main training challenges in hospitality in Chile?

Training again with every new hire because of turnover and seasons; training teams on round-the-clock shifts across several hotels to the same standard; teaching guest service, including in other languages; keeping food safety instruction up to date; preventing harassment and violence from customers as the Karin Law requires; and proving the mandatory risk prevention course.

The client

A hospitality team that learns on the job

Tánica is an organization in the hotel industry. Its Tánica Academy trains the teams that serve its guests: kitchen, dining and bar, and excursions.

Most of that training happens in person, at the workplace: that is why the platform records each session and its attendance, together with the e-learning courses.

What it solved with Clikma

Paths by area and level, with in-person training on the same platform

With Clikma, Tánica organized its training into paths that follow each person's progress —from onboarding to the advanced level— and records in-person sessions and their attendance on the platform, together with its e-learning modules.

Its employee records update automatically from its HR system through an integration, and the Command Center shows training progress.
